B.S. Sociology & Social Work, CATC-III
Josh holds a BS in Sociology and Social Work, graduated with honors, and is a CATC-III Certified AOD counselor. He has certificates in both AOD and Co Occurring, Motivational Interviewing as well as Victimization. His skillset is unique in that it incorporates over 15 years of life experience battling addiction and a variety of major Traumas.
With experience in various civil, social, and criminal justice arenas, he continues to advocate for others within these systems. Over the past 9 years, he has served in many profit and nonprofit agencies while maintaining significant relationships from the past. With great joy he has seen many of these relationships shift - from a client, defendant, or probationer/parolee, to a colleague and partner.
This combination of personal and professional experiences has taught him intimately and uniquely how to navigate and connect with the needs of the client and their families. It also aids the families with an interpreter to understand what is happening in simpler terms.
Josh has worked in all levels of recovery treatment; in detox, residential, outpatient, and sober living programs. He has worked in a range of positions as well, including Program director, clinical assistant, case manager/AOD counselor, outreach, admissions, and intake. He holds extensive experience in crisis management and intervention with families as well as family counseling and case management.
With individuals and families, he has facilitated discussions on communication and boundaries, anger management, life skills, grief and loss, trauma education, stages of change, navigating life in recovery, living in balance, and other topics. During the past 3 years, he maintained a successful, consistent family group specializing in multifamily group facilitation. He has also been invited to guest facilitate multi family group for Northbound Treatment Center and Hoag’s detox/residential unit.
After over 15 years battling addiction and experiencing trauma, seeking relief from his own pain, he found a new way of life. Leaving the corporate world, he set on a path of service, connecting to individuals and families seeking healing of their own. Recovery is about finding healing for the individual and family while learning to communicate in a new way.
